Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage are set to play the lead roles in Brothers, a comedy movie that will be scripted by Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3 writer Etan Cohen. The actors recently co-starred in Marvel Studios’ cataclysmic team-up movie Avengers: Infinity War, with Brolin playing cosmic supervillain Thanos, and Dinklage playing a giant alien dwarf blacksmith called Eitri.

Both actors have enjoyed great career success over the past decade. Dinklage, of course, is best known for playing the quick-witted Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, and starred in the Oscar-winning drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, as well as playing Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Meanwhile, Brolin had major roles in two of the biggest superhero movies last year - not only donning a big CGI purple chin to play Thanos, but also making his debut as time-traveling cyborg Cable in Deadpool 2.

Now, THR reports that Legendary Pictures has won a bidding war for Brothers, a comedy film that will star Brolin and Dinklage as mismatched brothers, and is said to be in a similar vein to the Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny DeVito movie Twins. Etan Cohen, who recently wrote and directed comedy two-hander Holmes & Watson (starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly) will write the script, and both Brolin and Dinklage are also producing through their respective production companies, Brolin Productions and Estuary Films. American Sniper producer Andrew Lazar is also attached to the project.

Cohen’s credits include co-writing the scripts for Tropic Thunder and Idiocracy, and directing the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart comedy movie Get Hard. His most recent film, Holmes and Watson, was torn apart in reviews, earning a mere 10% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and reportedly causing widespread instances of audience members walking out before the movie ended. So, while the idea of Brolin and Dinklage teaming up to play brothers might sound appealing, there’s also reason to be cautious about this project.

Of course, it’s still early days for Brothers, which doesn’t yet have a release date or even a director attached. In the meantime you can see Dinklage back in the role of Tyrion Lannister when Game of Thrones returns for its eighth and final season in April, and see Brolin playing Thanos again in this summer’s highly-anticipated sequel Avengers: Endgame.
